My eight weeks in Beijing have gone by way too fast. I have explored much, ate much, and enjoyed much of Beijing. Here are some numbers that demonstrate my life this past 8 weeks.
Jugs of water drank: 30+
A summer's worth of water
T-Shirts soaked with sweat: every single one worn (my heat-damp Yang-excess nature, according to TCM, means I am always “a little moist”)
Bao-zi eaten: multiple every day
Tomato and egg noodle: one bowl every other lunch (see previous blog post)
Green Bean Popsicle (my favorite post-work out snack): almost one every day
The must-have Green Bean Popsicle
*Protip: purchase these green bean popsicles in the convenience stores on the PKU campus for 1.5RMB instead of 2RMB off campus! (Talk about VALUE!! In fact, green bean popsicle became a currency standard between me and my friends. 1 tomato and egg noodle = 2.5 green beans. 1 subway ride = 1 green bean.)
Hours spent karaokeing: 16+
Meals spent at KFC: one too many
Hours of sleep deprived: lost count
Friends and memories: countless
These are just snippets of my time in Beijing. There are much more that I have not described or cannot be described with words and pictures.
So with this, I’ll share a portion of the lyrics from 朋友 (Friends), a song I performed with my Chinese 4 class at the final banquet.
